In 2013, the world was devastated by an apocalyptic event, annihilating almost all mankind and turning the surface of the earth into a poisonous wilderness. A hand of survivors fled to the depths of the underground of Moscow, and human civilization has entered a new dark epoch. The year is 2033. A whole generation was born and increased underground, and their metro-cities struggle for survival; between them and the mutant horrors waiting outside.

You are Artyom, born in the last days before fire, but grown underground. After never ventured beyond the limits of the city, a Fatidic event raises a desperate mission in the heart of the subway system, to warn the remains of mankind about an imminent terrible threat. Your trip takes you from the catacombs forgotten under the subway until the desolates above, where your actions will determine the fate of mankind. But if the real threat comes from inside?
