The 84 controller 64 is a Bluetooth wireless gamepad that has all the buttons you would expect from a device designed to play N64 games, but reorganized into a contemporary form that resembles the 8buddo Ultimate Controllers series.

The redesigned form moves the joystick to the left side of the controller. This is a jaystick with a Hall effect and a metal ring, so it should feel as smooth and precise as other 8buddo controllers with the same technology. Hall-effect sensors eliminate the risk of deviation of the joystick, and the metal rings last better.

8BITDO recreated the surface of the Joystick N64 by adding three circular ridges. Fortunately, it has a rubber lid for joystick instead of the hard plastic surface of the original.

8BITDO also included the octagonal gate of the joystick, which Nintendo implemented on the N64 controller to imitate an eight-directed D-PAD. The actual D-PAD on the new controller is also in a new location, in a pocket.

The large A/B buttons and the four C buttons match the N64 configuration and have the same size/shape. The side buttons and triggers were redesigned to correspond to modern expectations.

The side buttons are labeled R and L, as in the N64 controller, while both upper triggers are Z buttons. The N64 button is on the back of the middle pin. The two triggers will be useful if you want to use the N64 library game controller.

The large starting button returns and is joined by three buttons found on many 8bipedo switch controllers: minus (selection), 8bipedo (home) and turbo. Once you assign the turbo function to a button, its pressing and holding is recorded as repeated touches.

The Bluetooth 8BITDO 64 controller revives the iconic design of the N64, but in an ergonomic and updated housing. A precision Joystick with Hall effect, with the original form and the concave rubber lid of the joystick.
