Under Vince's watchful eye, you'll paint, draw and pastel in thirty lessons, gradually assimilating the concepts, theories and techniques you'll need to create surprisingly good masterpieces - even if you've never picked up a brush before .
You're given a variety of materials and tools, including the aforementioned pastels, paints and colored pencils, as well as a new charcoal stick for monochrome sketches - and a range of canvases and textured papers to draw on.
Not sure what to use for the best? The nifty tutorial will guide you step-by-step through everything, while the glossary can be used to look up any unfamiliar terms if needed.

A feature that was completely missing in the mini Art Academy Sketchpad is also present here - the ability to save your creations to an SD card to keep them forever.
In the stripped-down version, you had space to save a total of twelve drawings, after which you had to overwrite existing ones - one solution was to post your images to Miiverse, then get them from there to your computer via the site , but it wasn't exactly ideal.
Of course, posting your designs to Miiverse is still an option in the Workshop as well, and now you can also capture a video of yourself creating your masterpiece and upload it to Youtube, giving you a great comeback for the next time someone will ask you how you did it!
There's even a virtual gallery of your doodles that you can visit first-person to show off your artistic skills.

In addition to this practical approach, theoretical and historical aspects of the fine arts are covered. By completing the lessons, users will become familiar with the reasoning behind the techniques and learn more about the masters of the trade
The software can also be used to draw or paint freely thanks to a variety of materials and tools available
Artwork can be shared via Miiverse, hung in a virtual gallery hosted within the software, or posted as videos on YouTube
Users can view or post videos of their work in progress. Recordings are uploaded to YouTube (user must have a Google account).
Users can view artwork posted on Miiverse or post their own creations.
