Dunkleosteus was an armored fish eight to ten meters long, unusually large for the Devonian period. It was one of the first giants of the underwater world, along with Titanichthys.
Dunkleosteus lived 130-150 million years before the first dinosaurs appeared. He was a fearless hunter who could snap incredibly fast and would eat large sharks and even his own kind if no other prey was available.
Fossils of fish, which were only half digested, were often discovered next to its skeleton. Therefore, scientists believe that the armored fish could not chew very well and swallowed its prey in large pieces.
