Nicklas Bendtner, born on January 16, 1988 in Copenhagen, currently plays for Sunderland on loan from Arsenal as a striker.
His preferred position is as a center forward, but he has also played on the right side of attack for Arsenal.
Bendtner began his national team career by scoring three goals in three matches for the Denmark national under-16 team in February 2004.
He then scored six goals in 15 games for Denmark's national under-17 team and was named the 2004 Danish Under-17 Player of the Year.
Bendtner was the youngest player selected for Denmark's national under-21 team for the 2006 European Under-21 Championship tournament.
He replaced Morten Rasmussen in Denmark's starting line-up. He made his Under-21 debut on 17 May 2006, aged 18, scoring both goals in Denmark's 2–0 win over Spain Under-21s in a friendly.
