Mario & Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympics Games /Wii-U

Taking place in Rio de Janeiro, the host city of the Games of the XXXI Olympiad, this part of the series features over 30 playable characters.

Tons of frenetic four-player action to enjoy with friends and family, including new Duel Events that give familiar sports a classic Mario & Sonic twist.

Rugby Sevens is one of three sports, along with soccer and beach volleyball, to come with its own Duel Event.

The action is amped up, familiar items like Bullet Bills and Chaos Emeralds are allowed, and chaotic multiplayer matches are guaranteed.

In Duel Events, you accumulate Duel Points by completing actions such as tackles, kicks, or shots, then you must write an essay.



Characteristics:

- Last-minute twists and severe beatings on an unprecedented scale await!
- You can also fight for gold medals in classic Olympic events such as boxing, archery and the 100m sprint.
- All events take place in locations modeled after actual Olympic Games venues, bringing an authentic Rio de Janeiro feel.
- Rhythmic gymnastics (with clubs) and rugby sevens - the latter making its debut at the Rio 2016 Olympics - are also playable for the first time.
- Along with the new events comes the new Heroes Showdown mode: an addition only for the most dedicated Mario and Sonic fans.



- Competitors join Team Mario or Team Sonic and battle against the other side in knockout rounds.
- Over 30 playable characters from the Mario and Sonic series appear, including some that are exclusive to certain events.
- Sports hopefuls can place themselves in the game as their Mii and take part in tournaments for each event.
- Coins and rings earned through gameplay can be used to purchase additional costumes from the Mario and Sonic series respectively.
- 14 official Olympic disciplines and three Duel Events, which give the famous sports a classic Mario & Sonic twist.
