In 845, when Eren was only 10 years old, the "Colossal Titan" suddenly appeared. Large enough to break through the Wall, it allowed other Titans to rampage through the city.

One of them ate Carla, Eren's mother. With the so-called "Armored Titan" now preventing access, the Maria Wall was abandoned and humanity was forced to return to the Rose Wall.

After losing his family, home and dreams, Eren swore revenge on the Titans. In order to become a member of the Scout Regiment, he joined "Cadet Corps 104".

- Inside the Walls, however, the same chaos descended as that experienced when Maria's Wall was lost 5 years before.
- Not only did the Colossal Titan attack humanity again, but the damaged Wall was - incredibly - repaired by the "power of the Titans".
