The story is presented in the form of a visual novel, with non-linear development of the plot. The story of the game is defined by the actions that the player does and the dialogue choices. The story is built on the moral choices sequence where each of the player's decisions significantly affects the further development of events.
The crucial appearance here is the "less bad" principle: the player must constantly choose between the rapid profit that can lead to unpleasant events in the future and the sacrifice that, in the opposite direction, will make it easier to complete one of the following episodes. Due to the Roguelike influence of the game, the story continues even after the death of the protagonist.
The fight is based on rows in an isometric perspective. Battle skills do not only use the energy of a character, but their health. Besides, the player can use a pack of books that are powerful spell analogues.
Package formation, book release during struggle and their use are similar in many ways with classic collection card games. Thus, the books that the player receives at the beginning of the battle define the player's strategy, while the characters he has on the field define their tactics.
