Tokyo Ghoul is a Japanese manga series whose action takes place in an alternate reality where ghouls, cannibalistic "monsters" that look exactly like normal people.

But who can only survive by eating human flesh, they live in secret among humans, hiding their true nature to escape the pursuit of the authorities.

It spawned an anime series of the same name, which follows the story of Ken Kanecki after he is transformed into a half-human, half-ghoul.

The sequel series Tokyo Ghoul:re follows an amnesiac Kaneki under the new identity Haise Sasaki (the result of horrific brain damage suffered by Kishō Arima).

He mentors a special team of CCG investigators called the "Quinx Squad" who have undergone a procedure similar to what Kaneki went through.

Allowing them to gain the special abilities of the Ghouls to fight them, but still be able to live as normal humans.
